Offense Drill 5: Triangle Regroup, Drill #1



Purpose

Flow drill to create movement with good passing, one time shots, width and depth.

Description

Starts with X2 making pass to X3.

X1 and X2 skate and crossover in neutral zone (creates depth); X2 crosses over low and X1 crosses over high.

X3 steps up and makes pass to either X1 or X2.

Lateral pass with 1-timer shot (a must).

Players rotate lines counter-clockwise, X2 backchecks hard after play on net and goes to X3 line.

Whistle start.

Key Teaching Points

Players must accelerate through the neutral zone and pivot to face passer.

X3 must remain high, in case of a turnover.

Variations


Triangle Regroup, Drill #2


Purpose

Flow drill to create movement with good passing, one time shots, width and depth.

Description

Same as Triangle Regroup, Drill #1, but add a fourth player behind the net who is another option on the attack.

Key Teaching Points

Players must accelerate through the neutral zone and pivot to face passer.

X3 must remain high, in case of a turnover.
