The Panthers have gone undefeated in the regular season for the three year history of the league and won all the play-off Championships. While Wesleyan, Bowdoin and RIT all had super seasons, clearly Middlebury is the class of the ECAC Alliance. RIT scored the game's first goal as frosh Katie Obyc knocked home a loose puck 7:54 into the third period. Julia Lipinoga tied the game at 1-1 with 1:13 to play in the third period on a wrist shot from the left circle. The two teams combined for 20 shots in the first 20-minute overtime session but neither could muster a score until Marchione converted a Susie Bellizzi rebound to earn a spot in Sunday's title game against tournament-host Middlebury. Sophomore Melissa Norris had 38 saves in goal for RIT, 11-6-3, while rookie Emma DeSimone had 39 saves for Wesleyan, 17-7-1. Middlebury jumped out to a 4-0 lead, scoring the lone goal of the first period and the first three of the second period before Bowdoin rallied. Megan McHugo scored for Bowdoin with 54 seconds to play in the second period to cut the lead to 4-1. Kelly Hase got the hosts fifth and final goal with 12 seconds left in the period and, despite scoring twice in the final period, the Polar Bears were unable to complete their comeback bid. Bowdoin got goals from five different players and points from 11 players, led by Katie Lynch and Kelly Hase with a goal and an assist each. Beth Denoncourt started the game in goal for Middlebury, 21-4-0, and stopped all five shots she faced in 30:09 before giving way to Kristin Hackmann, who won her 19th career game without a loss by stopping five shots. Sue Bernard stopped 43 shots for Bowdoin, 11-12-1, which was outshot 48-13.
