Hockey School Information

This camp is for girls who want to compete at the highest level, including playing hockey in college. You will work with some of the top women’s college ice hockey coaches and instructors and play with the best players. Players will learn the skills and level of play that is required to play at the elite and collegiate level.

Players should be capable of playing at the Tier I level and have at least three years or more of ice hockey experience and are born in 1989 or earlier.

All players will be split into four teams, 9 forwards, six defense and two goalies. The player’s experience in practice and games is guided by coaches with experience at the collegiate level of women’s hockey.

The camp format consists of games, on and off ice instructional sessions and dedicated goalie sessions.

Off Ice Instruction Includes:

Video Analysis of Games: Team and individual critique of video taped games.
The College Recruiting Process: This session will explain the process including what the player needs to do when and what coaches are looking for in players.
Weight Training: Strength and conditioning training for the female player.
Off Ice Training: This will focus on training that the player can do off the ice to make themselves a better hockey player.
Team Handball: This off ice game will teach strategies that are applicable to ice hockey.
Team Play: Classroom sessions with the teams coach will focus on team strategies and plays.

On Ice: . Players will be on the ice for 22 hours during the camp, with goalies being on for 25 hours. Four on ice sessions will be devoted to shooting and skating. Players will receive instruction on how to improve the mechanics of their shot along with gaining the knowledge of when to shoot. Over six hours of the on ice sessions will be devoted to stick handling. There will be one ice session per day devoted to team play, these sessions will be run like college practices. Practices incorporate skill development while improving a player’s game sense.

Games: There will be four round robin games played in the evenings with a championship and consolation game played on Friday night.

Goalies: Goalies will take part in all on ice sessions with three additional sessions devoted just to goalies.

The camp will be held at the Apex Recreation Center. There is a room and board option available for $299 and includes six nights lodging, five days of meals and transportation to and from the ice rink. Boarding meals start the morning of June 9th and run through dinner on June 13th. All boarders will be housed at nearby Regis University dormitories. Non boarders will have the option to purchase a five day lunch and dinner meal plan for $85. We recommend that all non-boarding players purchase the meal package due to the camp’s rigorous schedule which begins at 8:30 AM and can run until 10:00 PM each day.
