Lake Tahoe Kids’ Hockey School CONTACT: Mark Heidt (775) 588-0752 or info@laketahoekids.com WHERE HOCKEY AND FUN MEET: NEW HOCKEY SCHOOL IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE April 29, 2002—Bryan Trottier, Coach of the Colorado Avalanche, NHL Hall of Famer, and seven-time Stanley Cup Winner has partnered with South Lake Tahoe longtime local and Lake Tahoe Kids’ Camp Owner and Director Mark Heidt to create a first-rate hockey camp for children ages 7-14. This is the only camp of its kind offered in the Tahoe basin. The special day camp will be held Sunday, July 21 to Saturday, July 27, 2002 in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Lake Tahoe Kid’s Hockey School (LTKHS) will feature four hours of hockey instruction, training, and conditioning daily at the new state-of-the-art NHL regulation-size rink, The South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena and Recreation Center. Off-ice activities such as basketball, swimming, volleyball, bowling, beach trips, and hikes exploring the beautiful Lake Tahoe area will offer the children variety and complement the hockey program. Two meals per day for participants and a welcome party with Bryan Trottier and friends (NHL players past and present) for all LTKHS participants and their families make this hockey camp exceptionally complete. Specific hockey topics will include specialized goaltender instruction, daily chalk talk and motivational speaking, proper dry land training and exercises, and North American and European techniques. On-ice instruction will consist of power skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting; focusing on both positional play and team play. LTKHS will utilize the most current, efficient hockey drills and scrimmages available. According to LTKHS director Mark Heidt, “ Children will experience excitement, challenges, and rewarding moments in a safe environment; they will always remember laughing, learning, and growing with other children from across the United States and Canada.” Heidt reminds parents that all hockey instruction and recreational activities are always fully supervised and designed to provide “safety, fun, and learning.” Lake Tahoe Kids’ Hockey School is open to girls and boys 7-14 of intermediate skill level. The price is $675 per child and includes the welcome party, six days of on-ice instruction, all off-ice recreational activities for the week, meals, snacks, a LTKHS jersey, and a Saturday awards ceremony. LTKHS is a daytime program only; housing is not included, but the following local hotel is offering a discount to LTKHS families: Inn by the Lake.
