2006 Canadian Women's Inline Hockey Team
Here is some information from Dave Easter of Canada Inline:
Head Coach and General Manager of Canada Inline's National Women's Team, Gino DelMonte of Brampton and Assistant Coach Donna Forbes of Ottawa are pleased to announce the roster for the 2006 Women's National Inline Team. The 2006 squad will be vying for a three-peat of the World Championship after winning in France in 2005 and London in 2004. Canada won the first Women's World Inline Hockey Championship in Rochester, NY, USA in 2002 and lost in overtime in 2003 to the USA in the Czech Republic in 2003.
The 2006 team consists of some young rookies and some seasoned verterans that have won World Inline and Ice hockey Championships, but also boasts some current and former Olympic team players.
Keely Brown .Pos -Goalie. Yr 5.Born in Kitchener and lives in Edmonton. She is a Lawyer for the Edmonton Oilers. She has backstopped all 3 world champion titles. In those 3 games has never given up a single goal. Plays Goalie for Team Canada Ringette. In Ice hockey plays goalie for the Edmonton Chimos in WWHL.
Nicolette Franck .Pos . Goalie- Rookie. Born in St. Catherine.s, lives in Toronto. She works for UPS. She has played inline since 1999. She plays for the Toronto Aeros in the NWHL. Graduated from Yale
Isabelle Chartrand- Pos-Defense .Yr 4 .Born in Montreal and lives in Montreal. Isabelle will be the captain and has been for 2 years. Loves to play inline and represent her country. Played hockey in Russia last season. Has won an Olympic gold medal in 2002 for the National Ice Team.
Nicole Dosser . Pos- Rover.Yr 5...Born in Jarvis, Ontario and lives in Binbrook, Ontario. Studying to become an Athletic/Massage therapist. An Assistant captain and always an exciting player for our team to watch play inline. She was the Captain of the Brampton Thunder this year in the NWHL and was National Champions for Canada.
Kathy Devereaux .Pos - Forward . Yr 4. Born in Seaforth, Ontario and lives in Brampton. She is working for a pharmaceutical company. Has been an excellent team player and scored the winning and only goal last year in Paris, to win the gold medal. Currently plays ice hockey for the Brampton Thunder in the NWHL.
Teresa Marchese .Pos . Rover .Yr 5 . Born in Toronto and lives in Toronto. She is currently a Sales rep. has been a leader for the team. Lead the team in scoring and penalty minutes last year and captured the same titles on the Durham Lighting last year in the NWHL. In the first world championships Teresa scored both goals in 2 . 0 win over USA.
Cherie Piper .Pos - Forward --Yr 3 . Born in Toronto and lives in Toronto when she is not attending Dartmouth College as a student in Hanover, Mass. has helped our team win to 2 World champion titles. She has also earned 2 Olympic gold medals and 2 gold medals in the worlds with Team Canada Ice.
