Private farm setting with many interests Our farm has 245 very interesting acres with fields, laneways, rail fences, woods, drumlin hill, wildlife sanctuary, beautifully landscaped ponds and wetlands. There are 3 km (2 mi.) of roadways to walk, jog, ride, cycle and ski. Farm animals include goats, bees, chickens, cats, peacocks, potbelly pigs, a donkey, dog and horse. We grow farm crops, Christmas trees and gardens. Wild animals include deer, bear, fox, beaver, otter, porcupine, muskrat, raccoon, waterfowl and many other kinds of birds. Our large solid brick farmhouse (circa 1879) is located in a very private setting, .5 km (1/4 mi.) from the road. It has been updated to include modern conveniences while maintaining its original character. We have three bedrooms with shared bathrooms, a sunroom and a family room with a wood fire. Also, we have 2 new ensuites with queen or king beds, whirlpool tubs, kitchenettes, TV and VCR. We provide wireless high-speed Internet. You can sit in our sunroom or on our large verandahs and watch birds and animals in the fields and ponds. Our hill is quite picturesque and gives a wonderful view of the countryside. In winter it makes good skiing and sleighing. You can walk or ski on good paths around the ponds, through the maple woods, Christmas trees or our 100 acre wildlife sanctuary which has 60 acres of water. There are nesting boxes for wrens, swallows, martins, blue birds and wood ducks. A large number of wild geese pasture around the ponds by the house. These ponds have an island, foot bridges and picturesque lanes. You can canoe on the ponds and skate and play hockey in the wintertime.
Nearby are located historic Serpent Mounds, Indian Petroglyphs, Pioneer Village, Water Powered Saw Mill and General Store. Also close by are Whetung Ojibwa Crafts, Warsaw Caves, Lakefield Literary Festival, tea rooms, antique shops, craft shops, swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing. In Peterborough you will find the famous Lift Lock, Trent University, Art Gallery, Museum, Zoo, Canadian Canoe Museum, Petes hockey, shopping centres, and parks.
