1998 Canadian National Women's Hockey Team

Competitions

Year's Overview

The year started with the 1998 Winter Olympics. In the spring and fall there were a series of tryout camps to select the team that would compete at the 1998 Three Nations Cup.

During the last week of March 1998, the Canadian Hockey Association invited a total of 160 players to 3 evaluation camps which took place in May 1998. All players involved in centralization were invited automatically. CHA representatives attended all camps to evaluate players to be invited to the camp in October 1998 (in Montreal).

The coaches conducted an evaluation camp for the National Women's Team in October 1998 in Montreal. Canada will take different players to the Three Nations Cup tournament and to the exhibition game series, before picking the final roster which will compete in the 1999 World Championship.

Another National Team Selection camp was held in Montreal, Quebec at the Maurice Richard Arena from October 5-12, 1998. This selection camp would be used to choose the team for the 1998 Three Nations Cup, and to evaluate the talent for the 1999 World Championship.

The selection camp featured intra-squad games Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 5:30 pm, October 7, 8, 10 & 11 respectively. The games were open to the public and no admission fee was charged.

The Maurice Richard Arena is located at 2800 rue Viau, Montreal near the Olympic Stadium. Here is a link to a list of the players who attended the 1998 National Selection Camp in Montreal.
