Hockey Day in Keene, Saturday Feb 14, 2015 Thanks, Colin! I'm really proud of the great job my cousin Colin is doing as president! And thank you so much for this banner. This is a real honour!! I have so many fond memories playing here in Keene, and it's nice to see that hockey is continuing to thrive here! Certainly today's "Hockey Day in Keene" is a testament to that! What a great day for the kids ... and for us adults! It was fun to play with such an exceptional group of players when I played in Keene. And considering the size of the town, it's really quite amazing that we managed to win 5 Ontario championships! I think the key to our success was that all of the players worked extremely hard, were very determined, and committed to the team. I see this as a banner for all of us who paved the way for girls' hockey in Keene. I also want to acknowledge all the volunteers, organizers, coaches, and parents who made it possible for me to play as a kid, and those who make it possible for the kids today. These people allow kids to be kids, and not to have to worry about anything else besides just having fun and playing the game. I'd like to give a special mention to my Aunt Marg Todd who gave so much of her time to make sure we were in every tournament and exhibition game possible ... I was looking in my scrapbook and it showed that we played 79 games one season ... that's how many they play in the NHL! ... and to think she did all that coordinating before the days of cell phones and email! :-) To the current Otonabee players, I hope that this banner will be an inspiration ... that if you follow your dreams and passions, and work really hard, anything is possible! Thank you.
