Thank you.) > >And, please add in all pertinent data such as: full name, place of >birth, hometown, where you went to school, college or university and >your occupation. (All, of course, optional) Full name: Andria Hunter Place of birth: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Hometown: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Currently living in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada High School: Thomas A Stewart Secondary School, Peterborough University: University of New Hampshire (BSc Computer Science) University: University of Toronto (MSc Computer Science) Occupation: Computer Consultant >Note: if you a not a player, some of the questions may not apply >to you, but feel free to answer as many as you wish. > >#1- Please describe your favorite hockey moment and memory, and also >explain why you are involved with the game of hockey. My favourite hockey moment was winning the World Championship in 1992 in Finland. It was the most amazing feeling to have that gold medal put around our necks! I'm involved in hockey strictly for the love of the game. When I was a kid, I'd play as often as I could because I simply loved playing, and this is one thing that has not changed for me over the years. >#2- Your favorite hockey player and/or team (pro or amateur) is: Amateur: Angela James >#3- If you are a player, please provide your I'm not sure if you want the national team or my current team, so here are both: NATIONAL TEAM: uniform number: #55 team name: Team Canada team league World Championships (1992, 1994) skate size: Bauer 5 1/2 shoot left or right? left Height, weight, age: 5'6", 140, 31 Your position or role on your team: left wing CURRENT TEAM: uniform number: #25 team name: Mississauga Chiefs team league: National Women's Hockey League AAA skate size: Bauer 5 1/2 shoot left or right? left Height, weight, age: 5'6", 140, 31 Your position or role on your team: centre >#4- What is the best hockey advice anyone ever gave you? Just before going to the final tryout camp for the 1992 National team, I was feeling a little unconfident. I told this to an e-mail friend (Terry Mankus from Chicago), and he replied with the most enspiring message that I partially account to my success at the tryout camps. He told me that I should not have any doubt that I deserved to be there at the camp, and that I should focus on the things I can control, and most importantly stay confident that I will make the team! >#5- What is the best advice you could give parents who are putting >their children into hockey? I think it is important not to lose sight of why your kid is playing hockey, and to not let your own goals for your child interfere with your child's goals. I think parents should attempt to instill an attitude of sportsmanship and playing for fun, yet encouraging them to try to do the best they can. >#6- If you could do one thing to make the game of hockey better, >what would that be? I like to lead by example in terms of fair play and sports(wo)manship. >#7- Best tip you can provide as to what viewers should look for when >watching a hockey game, either in person or by way of television? This depends on why you are watching a game. If you are watching a game as a player who wants to improve, then one thing that you can try to do is to watch only the player who is in your position. It is important to understand what she does when she doesn't have the puck. This is often overlooked. >#8- Who, in your opinion, is the best hockey player of all time? Women's hockey: Angela James Men's hockey: Wayne Gretzky. >#9- What do you feel is the greatest life lesson hockey ever taught >you? I think the biggest life lesson to be learned by playing hockey is the importance of teamwork. It takes the combined effort of all members of the team (and staff) to produce a successful team. This isn't unlike many real-world situations. >#10- And, what do you feel is the best lesson the game of hockey can >teach us all? Playing hockey reinforces the importance of good communication and co-operation. Just being part of a team, we are forced to develop our social skills, which helps us to interact better with one another. >ALSO, OF COURSE, DON'T FORGET YOUR RECIPE! Sweet & Sour Slapshot Chicken 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup soya sauce 1/4 cup vinegar 1 tbsp corn starch 1 tbsp water 1 clove of garlic Mix all ingredients into a paste and boil for 5 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken breasts, bake at 400 degrees for almost 45 minutes, on the middle rack, covered with foil. After 45 minutes, remove foil, pour in 1 can of drained pineapple chunks, put back in oven for about ten minutes. Serve with rice!
