Marc's Speech

I would also like to recognize some people who are very important to
me: my family and Andria's family.

J'aimerais moi aussi mentionner quelques personnes qui me sont très 
cheres: ma famille, et celle d'Andria.

Tout d'abord, j'aimerais saluer ma soeur Raymonde et son mari Marcel, mon
garçon d'honneur.  Malgré qu'avec ses 6 pieds 2 pouces,  on devrait plutôt
dire mon "homme d'honneur".  Au cours des ans, Raymonde et moi avons bien ri
ensemble.  Elle était toujours très polie envers moi - elle riait
même à mes farces plates!  Depuis 5 ans, elle a la chance d'être marié avec
un ben bon gars, Marcel, et moi j'ai enfin quelqu'un avec qui discuter de
pool de hockey!  Mais farce à part, Raymonde et Marcel son plus que soeur et
beau-frère pour moi - se sont de bons amis avec qui il fait bon jaser, rire,
et bien entendu, visiter.

First, I'd like to mention my sister Raymonde and my brother-in-law Marcel,
my best man.  In french, the term "best man" is "garçon d'honneur", which
literally means "boy of honour".  Although with his 6 foot 2 frame, the
term somehow seems a little funny for Marcel!  Throughout the years, Raymonde
and I have shared many a laugh, and she's always been very polite with me
- she even laughed at all my stupid jokes!  For the last 5 years,
she's been lucky enough to be married to a great guy, Marcel, and I
finally have someone with whom I can talk about hockey pool stuff!  But
seriously, Raymonde and Marcel are more than just sister and brother-in-law
to me, they are good friends with whom it's fun to chat, laugh, and, of
course, to visit.

Next, I would like to mention my dear sister Pauline.  You have always been
for me a source of inspiration, and a good friend with whom I've shared
many interesting discussions and good times! I admire your faith, your
strength of character, your zeal for the french language, and your artistic
talent.  Although if you hid your talent better, you could have saved
yourself a lot of work during our wedding preparation!  But
seriously, thanks again for all your help, and most of all, thanks for
having always been to me, and for still being, a big sister and a true friend.

Ensuite, j'aimerais saluer ma chère soeur Pauline.  Tu as toujours été pour
moi une source d'inspiration, et une amie avec qui j'ai toujours bien aimé
discuter et rire!  J'admire ta foi, ta force de caractère, ton zèle pour la
langue française et ton talent artistique!  Malgré que si tu cachais mieux
tes talents, tu t'aurais sans doute sauver beaucoup d'ouvrage lors de ce
mariage!  Mais sérieusement, merci encore pour tout ton aide,
et merci surtout d'avoir été pour moi, et de continuer d'être, une grande
soeur et une véritable amie.

Je tiens également à remercier papa et maman d'avoir toujours été pour moi,
et pour chacun de vos enfants, les meilleurs parents que vous avez su être.
Vous avez été pour nous un exemple à suivre, par votre foi que vous nous
avez communiquée, par votre fierté de la culture canadienne-française, votre
sens du devoir et de la justice, et surtout par votre amour pour nous.
Et merci aussi d'avoir fair le long voyage de Kapuskasing à Peterborough,
pour venir célébrer avec nous ce jour spécial qu'est le jour de notre mariage.

I would also like to thank my parents for having always been for me, and
for each one of my siblings, the best parents that they could possibly
be.  You set an example for us to follow, by the faith that you communicated
to us, by the pride your took in our french-canadian heritage, by your sense
of duty and justice, and most of all by your love for us.  And thank you also
for having made the long trip from Kapuskasing to Peterborough to come and
celebrate with us this special day that is the day of our wedding.

I would also like to thank the Hunter familly for having always welcomed
me in their home.  It has often been for me a "home away from home".
Although it's too bad for Ruth that she didn't charge me like a "bed and
breakfast" guest... no doubt she could have retired by now!

J'aimerais aussi remercier la famille Hunter de m'avoir toujours bien
accuelli chez eux.  J'y ai souvent trouvé comme un deuxième foyer.  C'est
juste dommage pour Ruth qu'elle ne m'ait pas fait payer comme un visiteur
au "bed and breakfast"... elle aurait sans doute déja pu prendre sa retraite!

Et maintenant, permettez moi de dire quelques mots au sujet de ma chère
épouse Andria.  Je suis chanceux d'avoir trouvé une personne si formidable,
et je suis vraiment heureux que nous partagerons le restant de nos vies
ensemble.  Andria est une femme merveilleuse, ma meilleuse amie, et mon
amour.  Et elle joue aussi assez bien au hockey!

And now, I would like to say a few words about my dear spouse Andria.
I'm lucky to have found such an awesome person, and I'm truly happy
that we will be sharing the rest of our lives together.  She's a
wonderful person, my best friend, and my best beloved.  Oh, and she's
not a bad hockey player eitehr!

I think that the first thing that one notices when someone spends a bit
of time with Andria is that she is such a genuinely fun person, and really
down to earth.  She loves to laugh, and her laughter is contagious!  She's
almost always in a good mood, even during the millions of things that we
had to prepare for the wedding.

Je crois que la première chose qu'on remarque quand on passe un peu
de temps avec Andria, c'est qu'elle est une personne vraiment l'fun, 
sans complications.  Elle aime bien rire, et son rire est contagieux!
Elle est presque toujours de bonne humeur, même durant nos milliers
de préparatifs pour le mariage.

Quand on commence à connaître Andria un peu plus, on commence à 
remarquer que Andria est une personne vraiment spéciale!  Elle tient
vraiment les gens à coeur, et pour elle, tout l'monde est important.
Elle travaille aussi très fort, sur la glace comme à l'ordinateur,
intelligente, perfectionniste, et super organisé - ce qui est bien
pratique quand on planifie un mariage!  Vous devriez voir tous ses
fichiez!  Elle est aussi une personne très humble et surtout, une
vraie chrétienne par la façon dont elle vive sa vie.  Elle est pour
moi un modèle à suivre, et j'ai en appris beaucoup d'Andria.

When you get to know Andria more, you start realizing that she's just
a super person!  She really cares about people, and to her everybody
is important.  She's also a hard worker, whether on the ice or with
computers, smart, a perfectionist, and very organized - which comes in
handy when planning a wedding!  You should see her crateful of file
folders!  She is a humble person, and above all, a true christian, by
the way she lives her life.  She has been a role model for me, and
I've learned a lot from her.

I know I'm truly fortunate to have found such a great person to be my
wife.  Andria has been my best friend for quite a few years now, and
I've known for many of those years that I wanted to be near her and
with her for the rest of our lives.

Je sais que je suis vraiment chanceux d'avoir trouvé une si bonne
personne pour être ma femme!  Andria est ma meilleur amie depuis bien
des années, et ca fait aussi plusieurs années que je sais que je veux
être près d'elle et avec elle, tout au long de notre vie.

Et maintenant, Andria, nous sommes enfin mari et femme, et je suis
vraiment heureux parce que j'aime être avec toi, parce que nous
aimons rire ensemble, nous partageons une même foi chrétienne, et
parce que je t'aime de tout mon coeur!

And now, Andria, we're finally husband and wife, and I'm truly happy
because I love being with you, because we love to laugh together, 
because we share a common christian faith, and because I love you
with all my heart.
